I actually caught this one live. Must have been the lack of Lana that lured me in. During the Lex and Lionel scene, after Lionel basically tried to convince Lex that he [Lex] was the Traveler, it looked like it was finally sinking in for Lex that he would never be anywhere near the top on Lionel's list of priorities. Yet one more reason for him to hate Superman in the future. While I am not fond of martyr!Lionel [now complete with jesus pose!], Lex did look coldly evil there. Too bad it was lessened with the whole insane aspect. However, I can deal with insane, as long as we get World Savior Lex. That, and his inner moppet was really getting on my nerves. I absolutely love the Gina/Lex dynamic. They would have been so good together, and she was so very loyal and took such good care of him. *sniff* Also, completely in love with Lex. Speaking of Gina. While I think the message thing was cool, where did Lionel get it? Was it a gift from the AI? I thought that he was no longer in contact with Lionel? Can someone help me out here? During the scene where Jimmy shows Lois the picture... I was expecting a more incriminating perv shot of Lois given some people's reaction. While it is slightly skeezy that he's crushing on Lois while [possibly] dating Chloe, who he dumped Kara for, whom he had made eyes at when he was first dating Chloe [ouch], it's not as bad as I feared. However, he gets gigged for being pissy about Chloe and Clark... yet again. And, not sure if it was an acting, directing, or writing choice, but Lois not getting interested until Jimmy said something about a Pulitzer? Totally does not shine a good light on her. The scene with Clark and Lex still let Lex be evil, even with the crazy going on in his head. He knew exactly where to hit, and he didn't hold back. It's so nice to see that he's got all the pieces and he might be close to putting them all together. OT side note: During that scene, my brother walked in, saw Lex on screen and said, "That looks like your husband when his head was shaved, doesn't it?" He was totally right. Except my husband was a broader frame and a stronger jaw line. Still, might explain my love of Lex. Back to the scene. I so loved when Lex implied he was just trying to protect the world. There's my World Savior Lex!! Kinda made me squee. Then my brother called me an idiot. That scene at the grave site, I just kept wondering if that was the same suit he wore to the Lexana wedding. Wanna lay any bets?

I think Lois and Jimmy had great chemistry in their freezer scene, but it would be pretty bad of him to go making a move on her when he's possibly dating Chloe. Then again he made a move on Chloe while kind of dating Kara. Sure he thought he was about to die, but still.
Lex/Gina is love.
World Savior!Lex is love.
Favorite line of the episode? "I have proof."

He also made a move on Kara while dating Chloe. Boy seems to have issues about staying faithful.
While the chemistry may or may not have been great, I hate that Jimmy Olsen always seems to be the brains of the operation. It bears repeating. Jimmy - FREAKING- Olsen is the brains of the operation. I refuse to believe they're trying to say she's the ILL. Do you know why? Because JIMMY freaking OLSEN was the brains of the operation.
Lex/Gina is so much love it hurts, as is World Savior!Lex.
I can't remember the exact quote right now, but I loved in the Clex scene where Lex was talking about someone needing to take control and defend the world. Yeah, that's so very much my Lex right there.

Honestly, I just want Lana gone. Lex is doing so much better without her. He's gone all cold and evil! *sniff* Our villain is growing up!

That's true. But then again, they're trying to drag this out as long as possible, so I guess that's why they kept her there for so long. *sigh* If only they'd used her the right way.

Excuse me while I fangirl you for a moment. *fangirls for a moment* You have just summed up my brain while watching this episode. I was watching that first Lois & Jimmy scene going "THE ICONIC LOIS LANE. YOU'RE DOING IT VERY WRONG."

Honestly, I just don't understand the people who are all over-joyed at that team-up. Then they're trying to say that the freezer scene was an iconic Lois save. It was iconic in that it was Jimmy, and the look on his face kinda says he's a Superman groupie in the making.
I actually smiled at the look on his face when he was looking toward the door. I actually said, "Now, there is Jimmy Olsen, Superman Fanboy!"
Notice they didn't even show Lois in that scene much.

You are so right. They show Lois only to be like "OH, SHE'S STILL HERE, STILL SHOT, STILL INCAPACITATED. WE CAN'T THINK OF WHAT ELSE TO DO WITH HER CHARACTER."
There were so many more iconic saves Chloe-wise. Let us count a few:
> Her falling through the stairwell in "Noir" and Clark catching her at the last second. > CATCHING A CAR SHE WAS IN WHEN IT RAMPED OFF OF A CLIFF. > Catching her car and spinning it around before it ramped off of a bridge. > Pulling her out of the ground when she was buried alive. > Catching her when she was launched off of a dam unconscious. > SHE ALMOST FROZE TO DEATH IN THE FORTRESS, UNTIL CLARK HEARD HER AND SAVED HER. > He caught a car when it smashed through the Daily Planet.
I agree so hard that it was an "epic Superman moment" with him saving Jimmy more. That scene completely revolved around Clark & Jimmy.

Great eppy, I'm gonna miss Lionel so much, i was really sad on the opening scene and the end scene was REALLY nice, with the sunlight and everything.
Lex's face when Clark said "I have proof" LOL. And I wanted to hug Lex, i don't care if he's evil i just wanted to hug him; MR is an awesome actor.
Im not sure why but i loved Chloe's line at the barn: "There was a reason those men were on your life. Each of them added something to the man that you're today" She's smart, and becoming a huge part on Smallville. Lionel left the key to her, he trusted her to protect Clark. Jor-El trusted her at the Fortress and now Lionel, that was really nice.
Lois and Jimmy, i feel like they're the "fun" part of the show, loved Lois': "we have the same DNA" LOL

MR sold it so much in this episode. He made me fall for Lex all over again. He's showing signs of being the complicated villain that we all expected him to end up as! I love it.

I was impressed by the level of acting in the whole episode. Everyone seemed to be at the top of their game. Especially MR. I liked that it was a very focussed story. Some highlights for me: Lex and Clark convo. Mostly, Lex. This is the Lex I have in my head. Complicated. What did you call him? WorldSavior? Lex and Gina. Love is right! So, is she dead? She's def paralyzed by the inhaler. I think she is and I think Lex killed her. Decided to mostly likely when she touched him, told him "We did it.", and smiled at him in the DP basement. And, he gave her that half smile of his. That's my read.
I agree with Leagirl on Lois and Jimmy. They are fun. And, I enjoy watching them together. I'm sure the writers are going for iconic for the both of them.
So this is the first epi without Lana. With a view towards the remaining (what?) 4 epis and the possibility that we might have a completely different cast makeup next season, I was watching the epi for possible story lines that lead towards S8.
Without Lana, Clark is more Superman-ish. As partners, Chlark definitely improves on this aspect of the show. Without Lana, I was watching for possible changes to the Chlark dynamic. So, Clark and Chloe realize that Lex has both keys and will get his hands on the box in Zurich. What does she mean when she says: "...it's not just your worst nightmare, it's everyone else's. Be careful." I was thinking. Who's everyone else? It's just her.
Lex fires Chloe. What does this mean for Chloe?
Clark and Chloe's convo at the barn. So, we haven't seen one of these in quite a while. I think barn convos are significant. The writers use them to say something about the epi and possible directions. Their conversation was about people who had died protecting him. What does this bode for Chloe?
And, of course, Lex's descent. If you were watching the story of the main characters, Clark, Lex, Lana, Chloe, and Lionel, and knowing most of the actors who play them will not or may not be back next season, you could say that the end is near. Lex is beyond redemption. Lana and Lionel are out. Clark is determined to stop Lex from opening the box in Zurich. What's in that box that puts Clark in peril? Is it something that requires Chloe die to save Clark?
If you watch the "other" characters, you can also see the possible makings of S8. Iconic Lois and Jimmy. It's not quite iconic without Clark. But the setup is there. Brainiac and Kara to be resolved next season after all the main characters are written off.

I wonder if Lex realizes he's one of the "meteor freaks" he's trying to protect the world from...
